An Evening at the Opera
–Opera Carolina at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center–
Going to the Opera and We’re Gonna Get…. Oops! Wrong song. That’s Going to the Chapel and We’re Gonna Get Married. Let me tell you, marriage rarely happens in the opera. Or if it does, it’s normally a woman marrying the wrong man. It’s passionate, powerful, dramatic, and with the exception of a few comedic operas, it’s nearly always tragic. Spoiler alert: In other words, someone dies.
I’ve loved the opera since seeing my first performance in November 2008. I lived in Idaho then. Opera Idaho does an amazing job!
Now that I live in North Carolina, I attend the Opera Carolina performances at the Belk Theater in the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. I thought I would share a few pictures.
Here’s the atrium area. There are 3 floors with a view all the way up to the dome at the top.
Here’s a shot inside the theater.
I love the ceiling in the theater.
It’s a beautiful facility and the sound is wonderful throughout. I’ve sat in several different areas and have always had a great experience.
If you’ve never attended an opera, give it a shot. You may love it or you may hate it, but you’ll never know unless you try.
