I talk a lot.

Apparently, I talk even more than I realized.

I recently looked at my Wispr Flow statistics and discovered that I had dictated more than 100,000 words using the app. At that point, I figured I had probably used it enough to write a real review.

Wispr Flow has become one of those tools that quietly worked its way into my everyday routine. I use it on my computer, my phone and other devices, and I find myself reaching for it throughout the workday.

The reason is pretty simple:

I can talk much faster than I can type.

What Is Wispr Flow?

Wispr Flow is an AI-powered voice dictation tool that lets you speak instead of type.

Voice-to-text certainly isn’t new, but what has made Wispr Flow useful to me is how naturally it fits into the places where I’m already working. Instead of opening a separate transcription program, recording something and then moving the text somewhere else, I can dictate directly where I need the words.

For someone who spends a large portion of the day communicating, writing and working with AI, removing that little bit of friction adds up.

How I Actually Use Wispr Flow

This is probably the most important part of my review because I’m not using Wispr Flow for one specific task.

I use it throughout my workday.

I dictate emails. I use it for text messages. I use it when I’m working on social media posts. And I’ve found it especially useful when I’m working with AI tools.

That last one has probably been one of the biggest benefits for me.

When I’m typing a prompt, I’m naturally inclined to shorten what I’m trying to say. Typing takes time, so I tend to summarize.

When I’m talking, I give much more context.

I can explain what I’m trying to accomplish, what I’ve already tried, what I don’t like and all of the little details that might otherwise get left out.

And better context generally gives me a better result.

The Speed Difference Is Significant

I’m a reasonably fast typist, but I still talk considerably faster than I type.

That doesn’t mean every dictated word becomes finished copy. It shouldn’t.

I still proofread. I still edit. Sometimes Wispr Flow misunderstands something or formats something differently than I would have.

But getting the first version out of my head is much faster.

And as I frequently say:

It’s easier to edit than it is to create.

Give me something on the page and I can work with it.

Starting with a blank page is much harder.

What I Like About Wispr Flow

The biggest benefit for me isn’t one flashy feature. It’s simply that I’ve actually incorporated it into the way I work.

That’s an important distinction.

I’ve tried plenty of software that looked impressive during a demonstration but never became part of my regular workflow. Wispr Flow did.

I like being able to use my voice wherever I would normally type. I like being able to get thoughts out quickly. And I especially like reducing the friction between having an idea and getting that idea onto the screen.

The fact that I’ve dictated more than 100,000 words with it probably says more than anything I could write in a feature list.

What I Don’t Love

It’s not perfect.

There are still occasions when I need to correct words or formatting. I proofread anything important before sending or publishing it.

I’ve also encountered some little workflow annoyances—including formatting around things such as my email signature—that I’d like to see become smoother.

None of those have been significant enough to stop me from using it.

And that’s generally how I judge software these days.

I don’t need a tool to be perfect. I need the benefit it provides to be greater than the friction it creates.

For me, Wispr Flow clears that bar.

I recorded a full video review and included a real demonstration so you can see what happens when I actually use it.

The demonstration begins at about 3:10 if you’d like to jump straight to it.

Is Wispr Flow Worth It?

For me, yes.

But that doesn’t automatically mean it’s worth paying for for everyone.

If you rarely write long emails, don’t work much from a computer, or simply prefer typing, you may not get the same value from it that I do.

On the other hand, if you spend a significant portion of your day typing—especially emails, documents, social media content or AI prompts—the amount of time saved can become meaningful.

My own usage tells me the answer.

I don’t have to remind myself to use Wispr Flow.

I just use it.

And for me, that’s usually the sign that a piece of technology has earned its place in my business.
