emergency food taste test

Taste Testing Emergency Survival Food

In these uncertain times of deadly viruses and killer bees, I realized that I was not prepared. I usually have all necessities on hand for any occasion I may find myself in. However, this pandemic made me realize that while grocery stores were running out of certain foods, and I was not stocked up on any emergency food. I immediately did some research and found My Patriot Supply.

I wanted to start simple and ready myself with a 30 day supply, which came in two cool buckets. These buckets had so many great options like cheesy broccoli and rice soup, pancakes, oatmeal, alfredo pasta, and more. So for this taste test, I brought in my boyfriend Steve to help out. We took a vote and decided to try the chili mac.

Preparation

These meals are easy to prepare. All I had to do was open the pouch, throw it into eight cups of boiling water on the stove, and let it cook for twenty minutes. Of course if this were a real emergency and power was not an options, this would be done on my gas grill. Now there are only two of us, but this one bag serves a family of eight. So there is a lot of value to one little pouch.

First Thoughts

My first reaction is was that it is soupier than I thought it would be. So for future preference I will probably cut down on the amount of water to get a thicker consistency. However, it smelled and looked really good. I knew with the first bite that I would love this product, even in a non emergency setting like this. It did have bite to it, so just a little spice, but not much. Steve agreed this was good and gave it a thumbs up.

“I don’t know that I can even tell a difference between this and Hamburger Helper.”
