Why Every Day Starts At Zero | My Motivation
I was recently asked, “What motivates you to get out of bed each day, and run multiple businesses?”
I live by the mantra “Every Day Starts At Zero”. I was a traveling salesman for five years. Being on the road teaches you many things. One of the most helpful things I learned while I was on the road is that you are only as good as your last sell. A lot of people like to talk about their best report ever, or that one big thing they have done in their life to measure their success. But I want to push beyond that, what can I do each day?
How Is That Motivation
We build upon the days before. So I do believe that what we do now, will affect our business and our life 30, 60, 90 days down the road. However, each morning is a clean slate. If I don’t accomplish something each day, I feel like I have lost that time. Crossing things off my to-do list is a big part of feeling accomplished. So I start each morning by picking my big three items to accomplish of the day, and do my best to cross them off by evening.
I also start the morning by making my bed, and starting my coffee. Seems easy, right? Well it is not always easy for me, it depends on what time I wake up. But when I start my morning with a routine, I get to start already achieving something. That pushes me in the right direction to cross off my big 3, and that keeps me motivated!
